Sojourn Church is big on serving the community and one another. We want to make a positive impact on the community. The churches and non-profit groups in Council Bluffs do a really good job of providing people with their basic needs. There are at least 17 different organizations that provide food and shelter to people. Good Job, Council Bluffs!
Sojourn has branched into these areas to positively impact the community:
Dodge Ball
On Friday nights we invite the community (9th to College age) to come out and play. We have a 24 x 50ft rectangular room for our court and several gator balls. These are foam balls with a tough vinyl cover. They throw hard but don’t hurt much when they hit.
Each week approximately 35 young men and women, ages between 12 and 20, come out to play. The game is fast and intense but safe and controlled. Our people have been trained to talk and engage the young people on a personal level. During the time, we are able to talk about their lives and issues and give really good advice.
This has been a very popular and long term ministry at Sojourn. We play each Friday from 6PM to 9PM.

Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered recovery and support group that will teach you to recognize how you got to this point in your life as well as giving you the support and the tools to begin the journey to recovery and regain control of your life.
Addictive behaviors are common with the people in our area and we feel this will be an amazing program that will meet a need in the community and connect us with people to share with them the hope that is in Christ Jesus.
